Midnight is a Cardano partner-chain (Layer 1) focused on programmable privacy for Web3. It uses zero-knowledge proofs and the Compact smart‑contract language to let apps verify truths while selectively hiding sensitive data. The network’s dual model pairs NIGHT (the public governance token) with DUST, a shielded, non‑transferable resource used for fees. NIGHT launched in December 2025 with a multi‑phase community distribution.
