Base: Trading app shift

Base CEO Jesse Pollak publicly acknowledged mistakes in the project’s development and signaled that improvements are coming.

The biggest product change is in Base App: the team is removing the Talk feed that was powered by Farcaster.

The app’s new main focus will be trading, and the feed will keep only onchain assets that can be traded.

Jesse said the Farcaster integration in Base App was weak and distracted the team.

Users are being encouraged back to the standalone Farcaster app, where social content works better.

Base will still support Farcaster, Neynar, and developers, but it will no longer build Base App around a social feed.

The overall direction is to turn Base App from a social product into a trading app.
